What we do
Change the World RVA is a 501(c)3 established to support high school and college students in Richmond, Virginia who are experiencing homelessness and housing instability. We partner with an army of volunteers, churches, and organizations to make a meaningful difference in the lives of homeless youth. We are an all-volunteer organization. We are the only organization in the region that specifically addresses the needs of high school and college students facing homelessness.
We celebrated "the best Christmas ever." Thanks to everyone who made it possible - KPMG, Metro PCS by T-Mobile, Penny the Cupcake Lady, and everyone who helped with gift cards. It was an awesome day of fun and love.
The best year ever!
Thank you to Centenary United Methodist Church for becoming our forever home. It is great to be downtown and to be blessed with your warmth and generosity. Click here to see a few photos of our beautiful new space.
Thanks to everyone who helped make Another Woman's Treasure such a success! Please continue to donate throughout the year, and be sure to join us again next year. There are not enough thank you words to express our gratitude for Elaine Kastendieck, BJ Moss, and Linda Church for all their hard work this year sorting and pricing our jewelry and purses. Another Woman's Treasure could not possibly happen without these ladies.
Thanks to the Midlothian-Chesterfield Kiwanis Club for hosting their Diamonds and Dice 2019 to support our We Got This! mental health program!
Dmitri bought a car! We thank everyone in our village for helping him along the way.
Congratulations to the first recipients of the Change the World RVA Pineapple Award for Outstanding Adulting Achievement -- Tre'Von Turner and Dmitri Blair!
Last year, Change the World RVA joined forces with several of our awesome community partners to address the need for a short- and long-term Host Home Program. We will host an Information Session on Thursday, June 6th and a training workshop on Thursday, June 27th.
We have joined the Youth Housing Stability Coalition, led by our partners-in-crime, Advocates for Richmond Youth. With Commonwealth Catholic Charities, they are celebrating a $500,000 grant from the Robins Foundation -- whoo hoo!
Our Birthday Card Brigade sent hundreds of cards to our students in 2017-2018 school year! Thank you so much to Debbie Chichester for her love & diligence that make it possible.
We have so much to be grateful for. We thank you for your interest & support!
